Something amazing happened, something completely unexpected! Our God is so good, and I could not keep it to myself!
I had a regular annual check-up with my doctor last year. I had a few concerns, but nothing major. My doctor almost always has an intern. I always say yes to allow the intern to examine me before my doctor does. After the intern examined me, my doctor returned and repeated all the questions and the physical examination. She began to feel my neck, and I saw this astonished expression on her face. She exclaimed, “It shrunk!” She explained to the intern that I had a very large nodule on my thyroid last year, so significant that you could see it with the natural eye. I could feel it last year, and it caused me a great deal of discomfort. I was sitting there trying to process all of this. My doctor kept saying that she could barely feel anything there. The nodule was almost non-existent! Here is the kicker, I had not done anything to shrink it! I had not taken any medication or gone on any special diet, nothing!
I left the office still trying to process all of this. As I drove home, it suddenly hit me. God had performed a miracle! I had not expected it. I had not thought any more about this nodule since the specialist told me the test results showed it was not cancerous. I praised God for that! I dealt with the discomfort and forgot about it, but God did not. Our Great Physician supernaturally healed me!
When God performs a miracle, you should tell people about it, so I did. I shared the news with anyone who would listen. The next day was my scheduled day to lead live prayer on our Mentoring Movement Facebook page. I announced that God had performed a miracle for all to hear. The more I talk about it, the more I am in awe of God, not just what He does but, more than anything, who He is! The Creator of the Universe is my Heavenly Father, my Abba. He is my Rock, my Strength, my Hope, my Joy, my Healer, my Provider, my everything! He is so mindful of His children and our every need. Even when we get used to our discomfort and forget about praying for complete healing, He does the unexpected. He does what only He can do. He reminds us that when we get caught up in the busyness of life and all its demands when we are focused on praying and interceding for others with more pressing needs, He is still working behind the scenes on our behalf.
As God’s chosen daughter, I believe that part of being a “sent one” is sharing His love, kindness, and compassion with all whom I encounter. How we live our lives is a testimony of the goodness of God. I do not always get it right. However, every day He gives us is a new day to thank Him for the gift of life and ask Him to help us be more and more like Him.
I start each day asking the Lord to give me opportunities to share the Hope that I have and to encourage and bless someone in any way that I can. I ask Him to help me be so in tune with the Holy Spirit that I recognize His promptings and immediately obey. I ask Him to help me to be bold and courageous in sharing my testimonies. People need to hear our stories of how God has come through in our lives time and time again. They need to not just hear about the miracles but also about the unanswered prayers that saved us from a destructive path! They need to hear about a good Father who loves us more than our finite minds can comprehend.
As I went back to edit this blog, the Holy Spirit brought to mind the story of Job. Job endured unimaginable losses beyond what many of us could bear. Yet, he still trusted in the Lord. You might say what on earth does the story of Job have to do with your testimony? The part of the story that came to mind was Job’s obedience in praying for his friends despite their misguided words. The Lord restored Job’s fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before (Job 42:10). Am I saying that we pray for others to get something in return? Absolutely, not! We pray for others because we love our neighbors as ourselves. Praying and serving others takes the focus off ourselves. Intercessory prayer is an act of love, trust, and obedience. We pray and believe by faith God will move miraculously!
God moves in big ways, small ways, and everything else in between. Are we paying attention? Do we have our eyes and ears open to all the ways He is moving in our lives and those around us? Let’s take the time to look for those glimpses of God’s glory in our everyday moments. Let’s be alert and aware so that we can live in a posture of awe and worship of our King! He is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise! Thank you, Lord, for loving us so well. May we never forget all the good things you have done.
(Psalm 145:1-5 NLT) I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever.
I will praise you every day;
yes, I will praise you forever.
Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness.
Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts;
let them proclaim your power.
I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor
and your wonderful miracles.
